Life can be complicated. Finding help shouldn’t be.
Our Resource Navigation program stands beside individuals and families in Harvey and Marion Counties, helping them access the support they need—when they need it most.
At United Way of Harvey & Marion Counties, we know that a family’s needs don’t fit neatly into one box. Food today, rent tomorrow, childcare next month—these are the real stories of our neighbors.
That’s why we created our Resource Navigation program: a free, personalized service that helps people identify their needs and connect to local resources, programs, and financial supports.
We build trust. We listen. We help create a path forward.
Your goals. Your needs. Your plan.
Our Resource Navigators can help you explore resources and create an action plan in areas like:
If you’re not sure where to start—start here. We’ll figure it out together.
Stronger families build stronger communities.
When people are supported, they don’t just survive—they thrive. Resource Navigation isn’t just about crisis help (though we’re here for that too). It’s about setting families up for long-term success, stability, and hope.
And that means healthier kids, more resilient parents, and a community where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.
We can’t do this work alone. If you’re a service provider, business, or community group, we’d love to connect about how we can better serve families—together. Please contact us so we can ensure we understand your program and are making appropriate referrals to your organization.
We do not provide direct financial assistance but we can connect you to trusted programs that do.
The Resource Navigator will be located inside the Newton Public Library.
Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays: 11a - 2p
Thursdays: 3p - 6p
First Saturday of each month: 9a - 12p (noon)

Nope. Our Resource Navigation services are completely free. We believe that everyone deserves help accessing resources, no matter their financial situation.
Anyone living in Harvey or Marion Counties who needs support finding local resources. Whether you’re facing an urgent crisis or simply looking for a little extra help to reach your goals, we’re here for you.
Our Navigators can help you identify needs, prioritize next steps, and connect you to local programs and services. That could be help with food, rent or utility assistance, childcare options, mental health support, transportation, employment — or often, a mix of all of these.
While we can’t complete all applications for you, we’ll absolutely guide you through the process, explain what’s needed, and often help gather documents. We aim to make it as stress-free as possible.
Every situation is different. Sometimes it’s just one meeting to connect you to a program. Other times, we’ll check in with you over several weeks or months. We go at your pace and stay by your side.
Yes. Your privacy and trust matter deeply to us. Anything you share with your Resource Navigator stays confidential.
Definitely. Even if you’re just exploring options, we’re happy to listen. Sometimes a short conversation uncovers solutions or supports you didn’t know existed.
It’s simple.
